Job Description

As Payments Team Leader at Metro Bank you will perform an important role supervising the daily functions within the Electronic Payments Team. You will have leadership skills coupled with strong technical knowledge which will be key in achieving success, this role is critical in ensuring an amazing experience for our customers.

You will play an important role in shaping the strategic direction of the department. While your main responsibility will be to ensure all tasks are accurately completed in a timely manner, ability to motivate and lead by example will be key to your success in this challenging, fast-paced role.

The Payments Team Leader will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external customers/ colleagues of all levels.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an enthusiastic, dedicated and flexible approach to work. We want every customer to receive amazing service, and you will play an important role in delivering this by working with the Workflow Manager to ensure that all transactions are processed in a timely manner whilst minimizing risk to the bank and our customers.

Depending on the team, most of our roles offer flexible working.

So what would you be doing?

• Prioritising/organising workflow to ensure that all payments are executed in line with cut-offs.

• Understanding the challenges impacting operations in the Payments Industry, but have an interest in expanding your knowledge, and imparting this to the team.

•Helping develop careers of Colleagues in your team, through coaching, development, and setting SMART objectives.

•Providing appropriate MI for the Leadership Team

•Development and application of procedural controls, and ability to identify and deliver change

•Deputising for the Payments Processing Manager

•Instilling a strong risk management and continuous improvement culture within the team

•Working on large-scale projects i.e. PSD2/ Faster Payment upgrades

•Coaching and mentoring the team

•Updating processes to ensure they are robust for today's environment

•Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders

•It is essential that you have payments processing experience (including SWIFT & SEPA, CHAPS and Faster Payments)

•You will have a working knowledge of SWIFT

•You should have an understanding of payment-related risk

•Naturally you will have an understanding of reconciliations and investigations processes
