Perfect opportunity supporting young children and adolescents ages 3 to 18 with trauma, mental health and behavioural challenges.

An inclusive specialist school for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs based in Wallingford are looking for Teaching Assistants to support children with behavioural and mental health issues. Graduates who have qualified in Psychology, Counselling or Criminology would be perfect for this. Candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.

The Mental Health Specialist School is located in Wallingford and is a full-time role starting ASAP. The SEN students are aged 5 to 18 and have significant developmental trauma, emotional needs and behavioural challenges so the successful mental health assistant will be supporting each individual's well being and personal development.

This is an excellent opportunity for the successful mental health assistant to work alongside both psychologists and therapists based on-site at school. In this role you will gain first-hand experience with young people with significant needs and learn how to communicate and support them, through the help of trained professionals. You will also gain invaluable experience working with Special Needs such as Autism and ADHD. This is a great opportunity for an aspiring educational or cognitive psychologist, therapist, counsellor, teacher or even criminal justice officer!

The SEMH School is looking for a Mental Health Assistant who can bring enthusiasm, passion and experience to the classroom. They are looking for a SEMH TA who will be proactive and flexible and be able to use their own initiative. Resilience and confidence to work with challenging behaviour is beneficial!

The children in this school require a Mental Health Assistant who understands their complex needs and is open-minded, resilient and up for a challenge! The children have a range of needs although emotional and mental health needs is their main provision. Experience with SEN children and/or adults in any setting would be relevant. A degree would be most desirable.
