Field Based Assistant Electrical Engineering TechnicianAll training, tools, equipment providedStoke-on-TrentWorking away, all expenses paid across the UK Monday to Friday approx 3 weeks per month. Company OverviewOur client is a UK based high voltage electrical engineering consultancy. They have provided electrical engineering designs and surveying services for over 50 years and work with a variety of long standing clients such as National Grid, Western Power Distribution, Scottish and Southern Energy on their high voltage networks. Specifically they provide high voltage earthing surveys on large power substations across the country carrying out the testing to make sure they are safe for other workers.The power industry is going through a period of growth due to the high amount of renewable energy being connected to the grid. Due to this growth our client is now seeking to hire a new Assistant Technician to join the team and train up into a Team Lead Position over the years ahead. The roleOur clients' success and continued growth mean that they now require an Electrical Engineering Technician to join their Team, commutable to the Stoke-on-Trent area. Work involves earthing system continuity testing, earth resistance testing and impedance measurements. Working as part of a 2 or 3-person team at sites across the UK, with occasional work in Ireland. The role requires working away from home Monday to Friday, typically three weeks per month. When working away from home, you will have your own hotel room and all expenses paid. When not working away from home, you will be given training to carry out equipment maintenance and when needed assisting with site work planning. For the right person, there will be opportunities to develop your skills further for potential progression to more senior roles. There is a real desire for you to be trained to be a Team Lead in 2-3 years.Requirements The successful applicant will ideally have an electrical background, or have a good technical interest that can be applied to field based engineering work. Willing to work 40 hours per week Monday to Friday. Hotels and food paid for with your own hotel room such as a Holiday Inn or Premier Inn. IT literate and have a good standard of English. Good organisational and interpersonal skills. Must have a full UK driving license. Must be eligible to work in the UK without needing VISA. Able to perform physically demanding work. Must be willing to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
