Manufacturing Product/Process Development Specialist

This Cambridgeshire based company have a product currently in development which will change the way we diagnose viruses like Covid and 'Flu and even other prominent illnesses, like Strep A.

This Point of Care diagnostic system is a cheap and affordable option that will deliver accurate PCR results in as little as 5 minutes, saving money and time where it matters most.

Spun-out of and supported by one of Cambridge's highly successful R&D organisations, the company is growing super-quickly and aims to scale up and have the product in clinical studies within the next 2 years.

What's also really amazing is that they are not a company who are trying to 'cash in' on the pandemic; they were already bringing this product to life long before 2020.

To carry out such an ambitious task, they need to slick up manufacturing processes as they progress from pilot line to production.

This is a senior role, in which you will be responsible for their consumable manufacturing processes, within their impressive on-site facility.

You will use your experience to develop, validate and optimise medium to high volume assembly processes, assess performance and implement news test methods, including writing the relevant protocols.

It's a key role and which will utilise your DFMA experience for important decisions as the product design and development evolves. You will even get the opportunity for some international travel from time to time.

What you will need to be successful in the role:

• A good degree in engineering or a related discipline
• Significant experience in a medium to high volume manufacturing industry
• Process development experience, including knowledge of measuring and analysis of performance and optimisation
• Knowledge of the steps to qualify a process and/or piece of equipment
• Familiarity with equipment or product User Requirements Specifications
• Awareness of developing products under strict regulations, quality systems and practices
• Any hands-on experience with heat sealing, ultrasonic welding and leak testing would be particularly useful
