The Bank of England and Inspire People are partnering together to attract a high-calibre Data Scientist with experience in shaping data using Python or R who will be responsible for supporting the delivery of data and analytics projects within the Bank. Circa £500 inside IR35, 12 month contract, hybrid-working 2 days/week London based.

You will be working in the bank's Data and Analytics Transformation (DAT) directorate to make the best use of data and analytics for policy decisions and financial regulations. Pretty much everything the Bank does depends critically on the use of data and analytics, and hence, the Bank has made our work a strategic priority. The applicant must be able to demonstrate experience of generating reproducible analysis and implementing valuable data solutions

As a Data Scientist typical responsibilities will include:

  • Scope and shape data and analytics projects in conjunction with business areas from across the Bank and ensure they are aligned with the Bank-wide Data and Analytics strategy.
  • Lead and support the delivery of data/analytics projects with business areas as the technical expert and oversee the project plan/team deliverables.
  • Upskill business areas and project volunteers in analytical standards and Data Science tools and techniques.

Essential skills for this Data Scientist role:

  • High proficiency in 1 or more analytical tools i.e R, Python, Tableau, Spark
  • Knowledge of how to maintain data/tools/processes, generate analysis and implement data solutions
  • Strong communication skills to engage with colleagues at a range of sonority levels
  • Collaborative approach to form strong partnerships with colleagues within the Bank

Desirable skills for this Data Scientist role:

  • Ability to teach others data science technique and tools
  • Experience of leading pieces of work within a team environment
  • Understanding how to shape business requirements into an analytics project

You will receive a day rate of circa £500 inside the IR35 and the contract length is 12 months.

You will join the Data Strategy Implementation Team (DSID) who provide tools, platforms, services, training and specialist support, to help the Bank members find, analyse and utilise data to achieve our business outcomes. They are still a start-up: created two years ago, doubled in size last year, doubling again this year!
