Unit Leader

We are looking for a trained and qualified childcare professional to join St George's Nursery as our Unit Leader.

Reporting to, and working closely with, our Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager, the successful candidate will oversee the smooth running of our Nursery Unit.

Full details of the responsibilities of our Unit Leader can be found in the job description, but as this is the first rung on our leadership ladder, we are looking for someone already experienced in leadership and management to:

  • Actively participate in all aspects of nursery life and maintain positive relationships with parents of all children in the nursery
  • Carry out nursery practitioner responsibilities, such as planning activities for children to ensure each child is offered a wide range of stimulating and developmentally appropriate activities
  • Identify areas for room, teaching and activity improvements, and work with the team to implement changes for improvements.
  • Ensure that high quality care is being practised at all times.

Our teams receive detailed induction and we have an on-site nursery training manager who provides on-going training such as health and safety, paediatric first aid and safeguarding children, to name but a few.

At St. George's Nursery, we take pride in the fact that we have such dedicated long-term staff, who are passionate about both childcare as well as St. George's. 39 members of the St. George's family have been with us for 5+ years, and 21 members of our team have been with us for 10+ years.
