Job Description

Pastoral Support, Secondary School, Calderdale, January 2023 Your new company Hays are working with a secondary school in Calderdale who are looking for a Pastoral Support for their students. This is a temporary role to start in January 2023 and will be a term-time, long-term role. This school is a forward thinking and outward facing school, which utilises fully a wealth of excellent practitioners and practices. Your new role This is a temporary role to start in January 2023 and will run until Christmas. The role is 5 days a week with ours between 8 am and 4 pm. Supervise students excluded from, or otherwise not working to, a normal timetable. Attend to students' personal needs and provide advice to assist in their social, health & hygiene development. To assist in comprehensive assessment of students Assist teachers with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans. Assist in developing 1:1 mentoring arrangements with students. Assist in drawing up behaviour/attendance/support and monitoring plans Work with other staff in planning, evaluating and adjusting learning activities as appropriate Monitor and evaluate students' responses and progress against action plans through observation and planned recording. Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate behaviour management strategies Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers, exchanging information, facilitating their support for their child's attendance, access and learning and supporting home to school and community links Provide information and advice to enable students to make choices about their own learning/behaviour/attendance Work with other staff in planning, evaluating and adjusting learning activities as appropriate Monitor and evaluate students' responses and progress against action plans through observation and planned recording Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports as required Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate behaviour management strategies Support for the School Be aware of and comply with school policies and procedures Ensure all students have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals to support student pastoral care achievement To help support the organisation of Parents Evenings, including monitoring attendance, collecting parent feedback and follow up of absentees To support, uphold and contribute to the development of the Council's Equal Rights policies and practices in respect of both employment issues and the delivery of services to the community What you'll need to succeed Have experience in a similar position Be an excellent, inspirational individual Possess a passion for pupil development Provide details of last 2 latest references, covering the last 5 years' work history Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration Be committed to the safeguarding of children and young people Be willing to complete a face to face registration and satisfy several checks What you'll get in return It is a competitive rate of pay with the opportunity to be paid to scale.
