What the role entails As the Student Support Worker, you will be responsible for liaising with learners on a day-to-day basis promoting the education provision on offer and carrying out initial assessments in English, Maths and learning difficulties/disabilities to ensure the learner has the information to plan their learner journey. In addition, ensuring that prospective and existing learners receive relevant and easily understood information regarding learning and skills provision and continuing support. Working in a prison is different to a mainstream education facility. We operate with security at the forefront of what we do, so our class sizes are small to maximise supportive delivery. To aid this you also will be supported by Learning Support Practitioners & Student Support Workers who will support with one to one when required. Our security team are on hand to ensure the lessons run smoothly. We always try to cater to a learner's individual needs and ensure we create a positive learner experience. Time will be given to planning and your Local Education Manager is always on hand to provide support as and when needed.
