Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Education Caseworker to join the Education department of Plymouth City Council.
This is a temporary position, working 37 hours per week, offering a competitive hourly rate of £10.01
The majority of the role will be remote working, with some on site cover as and when required in the Plymouth area.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following;
To be the first point of contact for parents/carers, Head Teachers, Special Educational Needs Coordinators and other service users for pupils involved in the Education, Health and Care Plan process of statutory assessment.
Responsible for the receipt and logging of Annual Review reports.
Responsible for the coordination of the statutory assessment process for all children with special education needs and disabilities.
Responsible for ensuring that approximately a third of all Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) are maintained, reviewed and amended annually in accordance with statutory timelines.
Responsible for liaising and corresponding with parents/carers and professionals through each stage of the assessment process, including giving, requesting and chasing of information
To liaise and work closely with the Admissions Team to ensure the allocation of places including phased transfers are carried out in accordance with Plymouth Authority's Admissions Policy.
To be responsible for checking drafts, issuing Eduacation, Health and Care Plans and advice giving to parents/carers and all professionals who were involved in the assessment process.
Experience of working under pressure to meet deadlines
The ideal candidate will have highly developed organisational skills, the ability to work independently and unsupervised to tight timescales using own initiative, whilst managing conflicting priorities
As this is a varied role, you will also be required to do general administrative tasks, including arranging of meetings, answering queries and managing emails.
You will be confident to work on your own and will be proficient with Microsoft packages.
