Job Description
Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2022
Do you thrive in a fast-paced work environment? Do you enjoy working to tight deadlines? Do you like to make a difference? If this sounds like you, this could be your perfect role.
At Johnnie Johnson Housing, we're looking for an Income Officer to join us.
The Income Officer will provide a comprehensive income management service to Johnnie Johnson Housing, ensuring daily tasks are carried out to a high standard, striving to maximise rental income and make the business 'Outstanding'.
Driving a strong payment culture, you'll deliver a high-quality rent collection and arrears recovery service by identifying vulnerabilities, providing financial and budgeting advice to residents with emphasis on their responsibility for paying their rent. You'll maximise income from rent, service charges and other charges, through preventative and pro-active measures, such as attending warrant suspension court hearings and evictions, ensuring an effective income collection service.
So now you've heard a bit about the role, let us tell you a bit about the team! It's important to know who you might be working with, right?
Our Team
You will report into our Income Leader and sit within a close-knit team of 5. As well as providing support to the organisation, we support each other too. We work hard but we also like to have fun and you'll often find us catching up outside of work.
About you
We're looking for someone who has experience in income management or debt recovery/collection, preferably in a social housing environment, and who can work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, supporting, assisting and providing cover for other colleagues. We'd like you to have experience of managing a caseload of arrears and have a good understanding of residents' tenancy responsibilities.
We'd also like you to have experience of auditing rent accounts, calculating arrears balances and court order default liability, including attending Court for possession proceedings and of financial inclusion services. Knowledge of welfare benefits is also a must, as is knowledge of arrears recovery processes, legislation and pre-action protocol.
And the benefits of working for us?
We've adopted a completely hybrid way of working, meaning once you're up and running and fully trained in the role, you can work from home and/or our brand new (and very swanky!) Innovation Hub, Eden Point in Cheadle Hulme!
We also offer a fantastic holiday allowance of 33 days per annum (including statutory holidays) which rises to 38 days after 5 years' service. We can offer you a 35-hour working week, an enhanced 5% employer contribution pension scheme and a recognition scheme with both financial and non-financial rewards such as gift vouchers, healthcare discounts, and loads more fantastic benefits too - you can find out more about these on our careers site!
