Job Purpose This business development role covers both the servicing and development of investment consultant relationships and direct sales including tendering and pitching to new prospects (where appropriate).
Key Responsibilities - Contributing to and executing the business plan for growing assets and maximising consultant ratings and relationships
- Pursuing direct sales opportunities for DB/DC pension funds, insurance and other institutional investors
- Responsible for managing and developing specific consultant and independent trustee relationships
- Devising plans to build relationships with a range of the major consultants in the UK and globally (selective markets). Relationship will cover the breadth of the market (as well as depth within the firms themselves (e.g. various levels within the firms).
- Contributing to global coverage plan for the global consultants in conjunction with the Head of Global Consultant Relations (where applicable)
- Proactive positioning of new ideas with consultants
- Preparation of consultant meetings to ensure consistency and accuracy of information, messaging and positioning of meetings
- Regular reporting to management and to wider team on the development of the consulting relationships both verbally and in writing
- Interacting with marketing to ensure consistency of message, including input into RFPs and quality control on all communications to consultants
- Working closely with a broad set of Newton teams and BNYM employees; including, but not limited to, CIOs, ITLs, Compliance, Performance and Investment risk
- Input on fees and prioritisation of new business opportunities
- Possible client relationship management responsibilities depending on individual experience and interests
- Possess a good understanding of the changing dynamics of the UK Institutional marketplace and needs and required solutions of relevant investors, both current and future.
- Good network and contacts amongst key investors as well as their advisers.
- Educated to University level and ideally hold an investment qualification as a minimum.
- Good working understanding of all asset classes and across a range of investment strategies.
- Appropriate level of written and oral communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
- Collaborative team player, have the ability to use own initiative, and to influence and persuade at a high level both internally and externally.
- Results-focused and have the necessary gravitas for this role, possessing strong communication and relationship building skills.
- Have a service-orientated mind-set with the enthusiasm, drive and ability to develop significant sales across a growing range of products.
