Operations Team Leader - Green Energy

Our client is a pioneering flexible electricity and leading demand-side response (DSR) business, providing short-notice response and reserve energy which is cheaper and greener than conventional power stations. The company plays a key role in the renewable revolution and in the electrification of heat and transport as we strive toward net zero. The business is based in Edinburgh and occupies a superb office space overlooking Edinburgh Castle.

The company is evolving and therefore they are looking for a new Team Leader to be responsible for the Energy Systems Operators. It is a 24/7 operational shift team, and you will be reporting to the Operations Manager.

Regular tasks will include people management and formal line management. You need to have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to keep calm under pressure, as you will be working in a very reactive environment.

Along with enthusiasm and proactive you will bring commercial acumen, data analysis and IT literacy to the role. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must as are flexibility and a willingness to learn. Energy industry knowledge is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications & Experience

• Commercial awareness.
• CV proven experience in a people management role.
• Understanding of computer hardware and IT skills with a high level of Excel and MS office.
• Strong communication skills in the English language both written and verbal.
• Excellent timekeeping and flexible team player.
• Ability to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge such as basic technical understanding of the national electricity system and of IT systems.
• The ability to multitask, be methodical and remain calm under pressure.

Beneficial skills or experience:

• Programming or system testing skills.
• Understanding of engineering or a mathematical science.
• Shift working.
• Energy industry knowledge.
