Job Description

The Trainee Underwriter role has been created to give someone with no industry experience the opportunity to learn about the mortgage lending industry and to gain the necessary skills and experience to become an Underwriter.

Working closely over a 12-month period with an experienced member of the underwriting team, your time will be spent learning the wide array of skills involved in secured lending across residential and commercial property in the UK.

This opportunity will help you to obtain new skills and if you satisfactorily complete the 12-month training program, you will be offered an Underwriting role within our growing teams starting you on a career path within the group.

Key Accountabilities

  • Learning how to make up case files including basic online searches such as Land Registry, Credit Searches, Company searches, Rightmove searches
  • Understanding how to interpret the above searches and underwrite individual cases ensuring all aspects of our underwriting criteria are met.
  • Data input and management into systems
  • Build good relationships with 3rd party suppliers including brokers and solicitors to assist in the smooth flow of business.
  • Learning how to assess valuation reports as well as monitoring surveyor reports for live construction projects
  • Preparation of loan documentation
  • Assisting underwriters and case managers with preparing credit papers
  • Responsibilities may involve helping relevant teams streamline processes within the organisation
  • All work is to be carried out in accordance with Enra Specialist Finance policies and procedures.

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Previous experience within a customer/client focused role desireable.
  • GCSE Maths & English necessary.
