Job Description
I am working with a wonderful independent school in Berkhamsted who are looking for a Lead Cover Supervisor to start with their successful team from January 2022.
As Lead Cover Supervisor you will oversee the smooth running of the department ensuring the continuity of learning and classroom experience. You will support curriculum delivery by taking classes for short-term teacher absence, assist with extra-curricular activities and help facilitate remote learning where required.
About the role
As a Cover Supervisor, you'll be an experienced Teaching Assistant who supervises pupils carrying out pre-planned work when teaching staff are off work for a certain period (for example, sickness or paternity leave). The main job of a Cover Supervisor is to manage a classroom and behaviour while ensuring that pupils complete the work which has been set.
* Supervising the students and ensuring they complete set tasks.
* Organising daily classroom cover because of unforeseen absence using the school cover system. By 7am cover requirements need to be distributed to teachers and over supervisors by 8am.
* Organise weekly classroom cover due to planned absences.
* Mange a team of supervisors.
* Managing behaviour.
* Experienced working with Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
* Following the school's behaviour and safeguarding policies.
* Collecting the completed work and handing it to the Head of Department.
* Providing feedback on the lesson and pupils.
About you
* Must have an undergraduate degree in a specific subject (e.g. Chemistry, Maths, English, PE, Business Studies, etc)
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Must have previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor in a school in the UK
* Must have a DBS or willing to take one out
