Job Description

Support kinship families to build resilience, access vital services and create brighter futures for the children in their care.

At Kinship, we're here for kinship carers - relatives and friends who step up to raise children when their parents are unable to do so. We're looking for a compassionate and proactive Family Worker to join our Programmes team and provide direct support that helps kinship families build resilience, access the support they need and achieve positive outcomes for children. This role is based across Surrey, combining home visits, community-based support and some remote working, so you'll need to be comfortable travelling throughout the county to support families where they live and within their local communities.

Through our evidence-informed Connected programme, you'll provide intensive one-to-one support to kinship carers, helping them navigate complex systems, access services, strengthen support networks and build confidence in their caring role. You'll also support delivery of our Ready programme, helping prospective and new Special Guardians access workshops, information and support at key points in their journey.

In this role, you'll:

Deliver one-to-one support to kinship carers in their homes, communities and remotely.

Undertake needs assessments and support carers to achieve agreed goals and outcomes.

Provide emotional support, advocacy and practical guidance.

Facilitate support groups and help carers build local support networks.

Work collaboratively with local authorities, schools, community organisations and other professionals supporting families.

Support the coordination and delivery of Kinship Ready workshops.

Maintain accurate records, monitor outcomes and contribute to demonstrating the impact of our services.

Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and families in line with organisational policies and procedures.

We're particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have:

Essential

Experience of family work and undertaking needs assessments both in person and remotely.

Experience of setting up and facilitating support groups.

Experience of working with statutory, voluntary and community sector organisations.

Experience of safeguarding.

Experience of using CRM or case management systems.

Excellent communication, organisational and relationship-building skills.

The ability to manage a varied workload and work independently.

A full, clean driving licence and the right to work in the UK.

Desirable

Personal experience of kinship care.

Experience of Salesforce or similar CRM systems.

Experience of writing case studies, reports or communications materials.

Knowledge of kinship care and the National Kinship Care Strategy for England.
