CNC Miller

Abingdon, Oxfordshire

£40,560 - £46,644 per annum

We at JKR are working closely with a leading engineering manufacturer, who are recruiting a CNC Miller to join their team!

Job Purpose:

The CNC Miller will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC Milling Machines, ensuring components are manufactured safely, accurately and to the required quality standards. The role will involve working from engineering drawings, producing repeatable setups, inspecting completed work and supporting continuous improvement across the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programme, set and operate CNC Milling Machines
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to enable accurate programming, setting and manufacture
  • Create layout sheets documenting tooling, tools, setups and machine parameters to achieve repeatable results
  • Work independently to achieve high standards of quality and agreed production deadlines
  • Inspect and qualify own work using a variety of measuring equipment
  • Complete quality documentation and reports as required
  • Support and train colleagues where appropriate
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment, using appropriate PPE
  • Identify and suggest time and cost-saving improvements to manufacturing processes
  • Maintain a strong focus on right-first-time manufacture and productivity
  • Support an evolving manufacturing environment and adapt to changing business requirements

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent practical engineering experience would be preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience programming, setting and operating CNC Milling Machines
  • Experience programming and operating 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC machines
  • Proficiency in Heidenhain controls
  • Experience with Fanuc controls would be advantageous
  • Experience operating Doosan, Matsuura and/or Mazak machinery
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Competent in using measuring equipment and completing quality documentation
  • Experience manufacturing components to tight tolerances of approximately 20µm
  • Experience machining large components up to 2.5 metres would be advantageous
  • Ability to take responsibility for the quality of own work
  • Good understanding of safe working practices, including appropriate use of PPE
  • Overhead crane and manual handling training would be advantageous, although training can be provided
  • Good communication skills
  • Reliable, adaptable and positive approach to work
  • Strong work ethic with a focus on quality and productivity

Working hours

  • 39 Hours a week
  • Monday - Thursday 07:00 - 15:30
  • Friday 07:00 - 14:30
