Sounds cool. What's my part in this? We're looking for a Senior Credit Risk Manager to own underwriting strategy end to end. This includes setting risk boundaries, the decisioning rules and models that action it, and the portfolio outcomes that prove it worked.
This is a senior, hands on role, and will have significant exposure to leadership who are committed to supporting the right outcomes. You'll work with the CRO and the wider credit risk team to not only set strategy but to also build it. This means writing the rules, running the analysis, defending the numbers to leadership and the regulator, and adjusting quickly when the data tells you to. We move faster than a bank because there's no red tape between a good idea and a live test. We need someone senior enough to be trusted with that speed responsibly.
What you'll doYou have real ownership of underwriting strategy. You've built deep experience in financial services credit risk, and it's been genuine ownership - not just analysis in support of someone else's decisions.
You've priced and managed risk in non-prime or near-prime unsecured lending. Ideally credit cards or comparable, in a book where your strategy drove an improvement in growth, losses and profitability.
You're expert-level with SQL and/or Python. You run your own analysis, interrogate the data yourself and can move from question to strategy rather than relying on someone else to pull the numbers for you.
You're comfortable defending your work at senior levels. You can present underwriting strategy and portfolio performance to Credit Committee, leadership and where relevant to the Board, FCA or external auditors.
You're a builder's instinct. You'd rather ship a strategy change, watch what it does to the portfolio, and adjust than write a lengthy proposal about one.
You have genuine judgement about risk appetite. You understand the boundaries you're operating within and know where to hold the line and where flexing it responsibly grows the business.
Exposure to a decisioning platform. Exposure to Taktile or similar is valuable, particularly if you've helped build credit risk infrastructure at a growing lender rather than only inherited a mature setup.
You won't be a great fit ifYou'd rather analyse than decide. This role owns strategy end to end, not just the analysis behind someone else's call.
You want established playbooks to follow. Non-prime unsecured lending at a fast-growing fintech is still building its best practice - you'll be writing a lot of it as you go.
You want distance from the numbers. You'll be expected to stand behind your analysis and recommendations with senior leadership, Credit Committee and where appropriate, the Board or the regulator.
You want a fully remote role. We're office-first. You'll be in the office at least three days a week, because we think the best strategy work happens face to face.
You need red tape between an idea and a live test. We move fast and adjust as the data tells us to. You'll need to be comfortable making evidence-based decisions, putting guard rails in and adjusting quickly when the data changes.
