Ballantine Recruitment is partnering with one of the UK s most prestigious premium food retail and hospitality businesses to appoint a Food Technologist into its Food Technical team.

This is a hands-on, operational Food Safety role supporting a high-profile restaurant and hospitality portfolio.

We re looking for someone who can combine strong technical knowledge with the confidence to work directly with chefs, restaurant teams and cross-functional stakeholders to maintain exceptional standards.

The Role

You ll work across restaurants and kitchens, helping teams deliver consistently high standards of Food Safety, hygiene and compliance.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Restaurant Food Safety and hygiene inspections
• Reviewing menus, allergens and product information
• Supporting new restaurant, menu and product launches
• Coaching chefs and restaurant teams on Food Safety standards
• Identifying compliance gaps and driving corrective actions
• Supporting HACCP and Food Safety Management Systems
• Investigating Food Safety and quality issues
• Maintaining strong due diligence and Technical documentation
• Working closely with Operations, Chefs, Product Development and project teams
• Driving continuous improvement and a positive Food Safety culture

What We re Looking For

This role will suit someone from a strong hospitality, restaurant, foodservice or premium retail background who enjoys being close to the operation.

We re particularly interested in experience across:

• Hospitality Compliance Restaurant Food Safety Hygiene Inspections Menu & Allergen Reviews HACCP Restaurant Launches Team Coaching Food Safety Culture

Ideally, you ll have:

• Experience within restaurants, hospitality, foodservice, hotels, contract catering or premium food retail
• Strong practical Food Safety and hygiene knowledge
• Experience carrying out Food Safety or compliance inspections
• Confidence coaching and influencing chefs and operational teams
• Experience supporting menu reviews, allergens or new launches
• Good working knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety Management Systems
• Understanding of UK Food Safety legislation
• Level 3 Food Safety and/or Level 3 HACCP would be advantageous
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
• A practical, solutions-focused approach

Most importantly, you ll be someone who can walk into a restaurant or kitchen, identify where standards can improve and work collaboratively with the team to make that improvement happen.

Experience within multi-site restaurants, premium hospitality, hotels, food halls, contract catering or foodservice would be particularly relevant.
