HGV Mechanic / Heavy Vehicle Technician

Location:Barnsley
Rate:£18.45 per hour
Hours:Day shift
Contract:Full-Time, Permanent
Overtime:Paid at1.5x rate

Are you an experiencedHGV Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Technicianlooking for a great opportunity with a well-established and growing business?

We're looking for askilled, reliable and motivated technicianto join our maintenance team in Barnsley.

You'll play a vital role in keeping our HGV fleet and trailerssafe, roadworthy, compliant and operating at their best.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure they meet all legal and DVSA requirements.
  • Complete inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Respond to breakdowns and carry out emergency repairs when required.
  • Keep accurate service, inspection and repair records.
  • Work safely and professionally in line with company procedures.
  • Work closely with drivers, transport managers and the wider workshop team.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience as anHGV Mechanic, HGV Technician or Heavy Vehicle Technician
  • A relevantLevel 2/3 NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalentqualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
  • Good knowledge ofDVSA standards and vehicle compliance.
  • The ability to work independently while being a strong team player.
  • A full UK driving licence.HGV licence desirable but not essential.
  • Good communication, organisation and attention to detail.
Even Better If You Have
  • Experience working across a range of commercial vehicle manufacturers.
  • HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence.
  • IRTEC accreditation.
  • Experience using electronic diagnostic equipment.
