Sales EngineerRole SummaryThe role is responsible for developing opportunities and managing sales activity throughout the territory.
Opportunities may be generated by a telemarketing team, from existing customer relationships, via third-party partners, through other business development activities such as the company website and exhibitions, as well as being self-generated by the Sales Engineer.
Brief Description of Primary Duties- Responsible for the full sales process within the territory, from developing the initial enquiry through to order placement and ongoing customer management beyond project delivery.
- Interpret customer requirements and translate them into detailed and relevant information to ensure the most appropriate solution can be proposed to the customer.
- Prepare proposals either through the internal Sales Administration team or directly by the Sales Engineer, using standard costing models and quotation templates customised for the specific application.
- Present proposed solutions to customers and respond to technical and commercial queries, with the support of colleagues where required.
- Lead the final negotiation of commercial and technical details with the customer prior to order placement.
- Ensure the provision of comprehensive information to the Project Team following receipt of an order.
- Liaise with customers throughout project implementation.
- Ensure all necessary customer and opportunity information is kept accurate and up to date on the company CRM system.
Experience and Capability- Sales experience, preferably within the manufacturing or engineering sector. However, strong sales capability with a proven track record of success in other sectors will also be considered.
- Technical aptitude and the ability to understand a range of material handling solutions. Full product and applications training will be provided, including extensive field-based support where required.
- Ability to interpret customer requirements and translate them into detailed and relevant information to ensure the most appropriate solution can be proposed.
- Commercially astute, with the ability to develop a good understanding of the commercial factors relating to the business.
- Strong commercial and technical negotiation skills.
- Ability to develop long-term customer relationships based on high levels of customer trust and confidence.
- Flexibility, as the role requires travel within the territory, to the company's UK office in Derbyshire, and occasional visits to the factory in Northern Italy.
- Strong self-motivation and the ability to work independently without close supervision.
