Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure programme in Merseyside.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor with a background in Civils, Utilities or infrastructure to join a multidisciplinary team delivering essential infrastructure projects.

You'll work closely with construction managers, designers, planners, schedulers, operational teams and subcontractors, providing effective commercial management and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual and commercial requirements.



The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in supporting the commercial performance of the programme. You'll build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensure commercial processes are followed and provide accurate financial information to support effective project decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the commercial performance of infrastructure projects.
  • Working closely with operational and project delivery teams.
  • Managing NEC contracts and associated commercial processes.
  • Preparing and managing Applications for Payment and valuations.
  • Managing change, variations and commercial risk.
  • Producing accurate cost forecasts and financial reports.
  • Supporting month-end commercial processes.
  • Managing the commercial performance of subcontractors.
  • Supporting subcontract procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Working closely with internal teams, including operational and SHEQ functions.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring projects remain commercially viable and contractual requirements are met.
  • Supporting the delivery of safe, sustainable and high-quality infrastructure.


About You

We're looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who is comfortable working in a fast-paced infrastructure environment and can take ownership of commercial responsibilities.

You'll ideally have:

  • 5+ years' Quantity Surveying experience.
  • A strong Civils, Utilities or infrastructure background.
  • Proven experience working with NEC contracts.
  • Strong subcontract management experience.
  • Experience with applications for payment, valuations, change and forecasting.
  • Excellent commercial and financial awareness.
  • Strong MS Office and Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems such as Oracle.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational, time management and decision-making abilities.
  • An understanding of CDM Regulations and Health & Safety best practice.

Experience within energy, utilities, electricity or EV infrastructure would be advantageous, but the key requirement is a strong infrastructure commercial background with proven NEC experience.
