Digital Media Examiner - Technician - NDES S3 - Police Staff - CTP London

Salary: The starting salary is £46,985, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.

The salary is broken down as £ 43,976, basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £ 49,670. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for successful candidates to join the Counter Terrorism Command's Digital Media Examinations department as a Digital Forensic Technician.

Are you passionate about technology and dedicated to uncovering the truth? We are looking for talented, enthusiastic individuals to undertake digital forensic examinations on a variety of digital devices, such as mobile phones or computers. You will be playing your part in investigating some of the most serious counter terrorism operations.

Key Tasks

The post holder will be required to do the following:

  • Forensic imaging and extraction of data from digital devices, including mobile devices, computers, and storage media
  • Supporting non-technical staff, including police officers, to operate digital forensic systems
  • Quality assuring/peer reviewing examinations
  • Provision of evidence viewing capabilities for investigating officers
  • Answering technical queries from non-technical staff and police officers
  • Court appearance as witness of fact

Key Skills

The post holder must have:

  • Numeracy skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation and management skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Strong knowledge of, and interest in, all modern digital technologies with an emphasis on the forensic opportunities offered by their examination, and the challenges faced by law enforcement
  • Ability to build effective relationships with customers, colleagues and stakeholders, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as a team as well as autonomously
