Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, maintain, and repair mechanical plant, equipment, and machinery
  • Work from engineering drawings, technical specifications, and job instructions
  • Carry out fault diagnosis and breakdown repairs to minimise downtime
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance in line with schedules
  • Fit and align pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, seals, and other mechanical components
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment safely and accurately
  • Carry out site installation work, including on-site fitting and commissioning
  • Complete accurate job reports, timesheets, and maintenance records
  • Identify and report any equipment defects, hazards, or areas for improvement
  • Work collaboratively with the wider engineering, fabrication, and project teams
  • Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures and site-specific requirements

Skills & Experience Required

  • Time-served Mechanical Fitter or equivalent (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering, or similar)
  • Proven experience in a mechanical fitting, maintenance, or installation role within an industrial environment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including rotating equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Competent using precision tools and measuring equipment
  • Good problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to fault-finding
  • Full UK driving licence (site travel may be required)
