Key Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, maintain, and repair mechanical plant, equipment, and machinery
- Work from engineering drawings, technical specifications, and job instructions
- Carry out fault diagnosis and breakdown repairs to minimise downtime
- Perform routine preventative maintenance in line with schedules
- Fit and align pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, seals, and other mechanical components
- Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment safely and accurately
- Carry out site installation work, including on-site fitting and commissioning
- Complete accurate job reports, timesheets, and maintenance records
- Identify and report any equipment defects, hazards, or areas for improvement
- Work collaboratively with the wider engineering, fabrication, and project teams
- Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures and site-specific requirements
Skills & Experience Required
- Time-served Mechanical Fitter or equivalent (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering, or similar)
- Proven experience in a mechanical fitting, maintenance, or installation role within an industrial environment
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including rotating equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Competent using precision tools and measuring equipment
- Good problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to fault-finding
- Full UK driving licence (site travel may be required)
