Role

Volunteer Mentors work on a 1:1 basis with a young person who has left or is about to leave care (children's home or foster care). Together they tackle any issues the young person may be facing, celebrate achievements, and provide consistent reliable support of around 2 hours a week.

What you will do
  • Offer practical and emotional support to the young person.
  • Attend peer support meetings quarterly.
  • Sign up to a two-year relationship and maintain ongoing support.
Training & support

We provide extensive training covering the care experience, trauma, mental health, safeguarding and other relevant areas. Training is delivered in 8 week intakes in February/March and September/October.

Requirements
  • Commit 2 hours a week for at least two years.
  • Pass an enhanced DBS check for adults and children.
  • Provide a valid driver's licence if you will drive the young person.
  • Provide two references later in the process.
