DESIGN and PRODUCTION ASSISTANT: Freelance internship into possible permanent role

Elwin Street Ltd, an independent publishing company, is offering a three-month freelance internship for a Design and Production Assistant to join its small, creative team in Shoreditch. Working part-time (approx. 3 days per week), you will support the Director in producing illustrated book titles, with responsibilities spanning design, production, and administration. Tasks include layout and cover design in InDesign, preparing materials for pre-press, updating catalogues, and assisting with editorial support such as picture research. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or emerging designer with strong technical skills and an interest in illustrated publishing. Potential for permanent employment.

• Degree (or equivalent) in Graphic Design
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Acrobat Pro)
• Strong visual eye with proven typography and layout skills
• Knowledge of HTML and experience with platforms such as Squarespace
• Interest in illustrated book publishing or related industries
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multitask and support general office administration
