Family Befriending Support Volunteer

Are you a parent, step parent or foster parent with 2 3 hours a week to give? Home Start is a family support charity based in Stockport, Tameside, Oldham and Glossop. We support families with children under five who may face isolation, financial difficulty or mental/physical health challenges.

• Visit a family home for up to two hours each week.
• Provide a supportive conversation or accompany the family to local groups.
• Help parents build confidence and strengthen the parent child bond.
• Optionally focus on attachment and parent infant mental health topics if desired.

• Must be a parent, step parent or foster parent.
• Willing to dedicate 2 3 hours per week.
• Demonstrate empathy, listening skills and a caring attitude.

We offer additional training on attachment and parent infant mental health. Volunteers receive full support from a volunteer coordinator throughout their volunteering.

Various local service locations in Stockport and surrounding areas. Up to two hours each week.
