Lead Maintenance Engineer
Canary Wharf, London
£50,000 £55,000

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Lead Maintenance Engineer to join a prestigious commercial site in Canary Wharf. Working on the tenant side for a well-established environment, you will take full ownership of the maintenance operations on-site as a single-man site engineer, overseeing both planned and reactive tasks.

This role also includes mentoring an on-site apprentice, making it ideal for engineers who enjoy coaching and developing junior team members.
We re looking for a hands-on leader with solid building services experience and a commitment to maintaining high standards. The ideal candidate will be electrically biased, with strong multi-skilled capabilities and a proven track record of delivering reliable engineering solutions within a commercial setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver and oversee PPM and reactive maintenance across all building services equipment
  • Work on Emergency Lighting and Fire Alarm Systems
  • Undertake UPS, motor, and generator testing (on/off load)
  • Maintain HVAC systems including AHUs, FCUs, CRAC units, and VAVs
  • Carry out work on pumps, belts, bearings, seals, and sprinkler systems
  • Monitor and operate the BMS
  • Ensure safe working practices, including plant and system isolation
  • Schedule and supervise subcontractor visits
  • Complete all site documentation including logbooks, RAMS, and permits to work
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to the on-site apprentice
  • Communicate effectively with client representatives regarding maintenance activities
  • Use the PDA system to raise, update, and close work orders promptly
Requirements:
  • City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
  • Strong background in building services maintenance
  • Experience leading teams or mentoring junior staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive approach with a commitment to high-quality service
Salary & Benefits:
  • £50,000 £55,000 per year
  • Monday to Friday, 8am 5pm
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
