Position: English Teacher
Location: New Barn School - River View House, Newbury, Berkshire RG14 2PS
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (dependant on experience, not pro rata)
Hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm
Contract: Permanent Term Time Only
Start: September 2026

About the role

As an English Teacher, you'll bring learning to life through creative, engaging and personalised lessons tailored to the needs of every learner.

Working within a nurturing and dynamic specialist setting, you'll deliver meaningful learning experiences that go beyond the traditional classroom - helping pupils develop essential literacy skills, independence, resilience and a love of learning.

You'll play a key role in creating a safe and inspiring environment where pupils feel valued, supported and motivated to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and assess engaging, tailored English lessons
  • Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) with clear, achievable targets
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of pupils with SEMH and additional needs
  • Build strong, positive relationships that motivate and engage learners
  • Create a stimulating learning environment, including opportunities beyond the classroom
  • Monitor progress and support pupils to achieve positive, meaningful outcomes

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified teacher (UK QTS or equivalent)
  • Experienced in teaching English to a high standard
  • Knowledgeable about current curriculum and educational practice
  • Passionate about supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH needs
  • Resilient, adaptable and committed to going above and beyond for young people.

Not applicable for ECT/NQT/Instructor.
