Salary: 53,000 - 80,000

Travel: Up to 10%

The job

As a Senior Project Planner, you will play a key role in supporting PMO and programme teams delivering highly complex, large-scale defence projects. You will be responsible for developing and assuring robust, fully integrated schedules that inform decision-making across project, programme, and portfolio levels.

Working closely with Project and Programme Managers, you'll act as a trusted planning partner-providing leadership, insight, and analysis to ensure alignment with contractual, commercial, and technical objectives throughout the full lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and control integrated master schedules using Primavera P6 across large, multi-workstream programmes
  • Ensure schedules are logically linked, baselined, and compliant with best practice and governance standards
  • Conduct critical path analysis, what-if scenario modelling, and recovery planning
  • Identify and manage schedule risks and opportunities, embedding mitigations into programme plans
  • Support bids and proposals with compliant and credible planning inputs
  • Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) to track performance, analyse variances, and assess change impacts
  • Perform and support Schedule Risk Analysis, including quantitative modelling
  • Produce high-quality reports, dashboards, and insights for stakeholders
  • Support internal and external audits related to planning, EVM, and risk
  • Collaborate across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and commercial teams
  • Mentor junior planners and provide subject matter expertise in planning tools and methodologies

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in project planning within defence, aerospace, or complex engineering environments
  • Advanced, hands-on expertise with Primavera P6
  • Proven application of Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Experience conducting Schedule Risk Analysis and interpreting outputs
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate complex data clearly to stakeholders
  • Experience managing integrated schedules across multi-disciplinary teams and suppliers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and collaboration abilities
