The Role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for a Year 6 class, guiding pupils through their final year of primary school and preparing them for a smooth transition to secondary education.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering high-quality, engaging lessons aligned with the Key Stage 2 curriculum
- Preparing pupils for end of Key Stage 2 SATs with confidence and care
- Using assessment effectively to track progress and inform next steps
- Providing targeted support and challenge for all learners, including SEND and higher attainers
- Supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing during this important transition year
- Working closely with the parallel Year 6 teacher, support staff, and leadership team
- Contributing to the wider life of the school, including clubs, trips, and enrichment opportunities
Candidate Requirements
The school is seeking a teacher who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Has experience in Upper Key Stage 2 (preferably Year 6), or a strong desire to teach this phase
- Demonstrates a secure understanding of the KS2 curriculum and assessment expectations
- Has high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour
- Is organised, reflective, and committed to ongoing professional development
- Builds positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents
- Brings energy, positivity, and a proactive approach to teaching
- Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with strong potential are also encouraged to apply.
