Job Description

Specialist Behavioural Support Worker

We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Specialist Behavioural Support Worker to join our Learning Disabilities Social Care Service in Newham.

£31,117.00 per annum, working 40 hours per week (Male only due to customers support needs)
Variable pattern of 07:00-15:00 or 14:00-22:00 shifts, including evenings and weekends.

What you'll do:

Support a 32-year-old man, in his own supported living bungalow in Newham, always ensuring his well-being and safety.
Engage customer in meaningful activities both at home and in the community, including walks in local parks and car rides, requiring a current UK driving licence to drive his Motability car.
Communicate with customer using non-verbal language, touch, and vocalisations, and maintain a positive relationship with his family during their visits.
Creatively engage customer in tasks and offer choices to help him develop living skills, discover new hobbies, and participate in activities that support his growth and independence.
Support customer in exploring his interests, such as music and food, and help him connect with his local community.
Promote a calm, patient, and compassionate environment, assisting customer in managing his emotions and support needs.
Apply your understanding of the Positive Behaviour Support framework and experience with learning disabilities and mental health to provide high-quality support.
Use your IT and communication skills to document progress and liaise with the wider support team.

About you:

With a calm and patient manner, you are observant, open-minded, and able to respond sensitively to emotional and behavioural challenges.
You are creative in engaging people in meaningful activities, both at home and within the local community, offering choices and opportunities for skill development.
You are a confident communicator with good IT skills, assertive when needed, and able to help manage emotions constructively.
You hold a current UK driving licence and are comfortable supporting someone with their Motability car on outings and trips.
You have experience in working with individuals with learning disabilities and mental health needs and understand the principles of Positive Behaviour Support.
You are committed to upholding dignity, respect, and organisational values in every aspect of your work.

Drivers License and car
