Job Description

We are looking for an HR Administrator to join the Human Resources Office at the House of Lords. This is a permanent position where you will work as part of the HR Operations team, providing a high quality frontline HR service and supporting colleagues across the House throughout the employee lifecycle.

HR Administrators act as the first point of contact for colleagues and candidates, responding to day to day HR queries, triaging requests and ensuring accurate, timely and professional HR administration. This is a hands on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a busy, service focused environment and takes pride in getting the detail right.

You'll be accountable for:

  • Acting as a first port of call for HR enquiries, responding by phone and email and escalating where appropriate.
  • Delivering accurate HR administration across the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding to contractual changes and leavers.
  • Drafting and issuing HR documentation, ensuring quality, consistency and compliance.
  • Maintaining accurate, up to date employee records on the HR system.
  • Supporting payroll processes, including pay changes and liaising with Payroll colleagues.
  • Monitoring probation periods and supporting managers with timely completion.
  • Administering staff benefits and supporting HR projects and annual activities.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience of providing effective HR services or administrative support.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Basic numerical literacy and confidence working with simple Excel reports.
  • Tact, discretion and good judgement when handling confidential information.

It would be even better if you had:

  • Experience of using HR IT systems.
  • Experience of identifying/ implementing process improvements.
