Description
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounts & Reporting
- Produce monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet, and variance analysis
- Post journals, accruals, prepayments, and month-end adjustments
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end close process
- Maintain and develop meaningful KPIs to support business decision-making
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
Cashflow & Working Capital
- Prepare and maintain rolling cashflow forecasts
- Monitor daily cash position and working capital requirements
- Track debtor and creditor balances and highlight risks or pressures
- Support cost control across purchasing, stock, and overhead spend
Transactional Finance
- Oversee day-to-day finance operations including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of all transactional postings
- Review and process supplier payments and customer receipts
- Maintain clean and reconciled balance sheet accounts
Payroll & Compliance
- Manage monthly payroll processing, including PAYE and associated filings
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including VAT, PAYE, and other HMRC obligations
- Support preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Assist with statutory filings and Companies House requirements
Systems & Processes
- Maintain and improve finance processes and internal controls
- Support optimisation of accounting/ERP systems and reporting tools
- Identify and implement efficiencies in transactional and reporting processes
- Ensure financial data is accurate, consistent, and well-controlled
Business Support & Analysis
- Provide financial insight to support operational decision-making
- Work closely with operational teams to understand cost drivers and performance
- Support ad-hoc analysis including pricing, margins, and cost reviews
- Assist with insurance, contracts, and other business support tasks as required
Profile
A successful Finance Manager should have:
- A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and regulations.
- Proven expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Experience in the industrial and manufacturing sector is desirable.
