Hands on Head of Finance required to lead a Finance team in the delivery of timely and accurate Consolidated, Financial and Management reporting Client Details Leading, well established, Multi-site manufacturing business based in NE Derbyshire, Description Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate Consolidated, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with regulatory requirements. Analyse financial performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement in profitability and cost management. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management on financial performance and potential risks. Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop and manage the annual budget and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives. Monitor actual performance against the budget, providing regular updates and identifying any variances. Cost Accounting & Inventory Management: Oversee cost accounting functions, including the calculation of product costs, cost allocations, and margin analysis. Ensure proper inventory valuation, including the management of stock levels, raw materials, and work-in-progress inventory. Work closely with the production team to assess cost control measures and improve efficiency. Internal Controls & Compliance: Establish and maintain internal controls over financial reporting and operational processes. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS). Coordinate and manage external audits and implement audit recommendations. Cash Flow & Financial Planning: Manage cash flow to ensure the business has sufficient liquidity for operations and capital investment. Forecast cash needs and advise on capital expenditures, investment decisions, and financing options. Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring proper training and development opportunities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, procurement, sales) to ensure alignment of financial strategies with business goals. Strategic Decision Support: Provide financial analysis and support for key business decisions such as pricing, new product lines, and capital investments. Assist senior management in evaluating business performance, including profitability analysis, return on investment, and cost-benefit analysis. Description Management Accountant- Mangement Reporting Prepare monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery to senior leadership. Produce P&L, balance sheet reconciliations, and cashflow analysis. Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, challenging assumptions and providing data-driven insights. Manufacturing Costing & Analysis Analyse production costs, labour utilisation, machine efficiency, and overhead absorption. Maintain and update standard costing models, BOMs, and routing data in collaboration with operations. Provide clear commentary on cost movements, trends, and operational drivers. Opex Management Monitor and review operational expenditure across manufacturing sites. Partner with department heads to track actual spend vs budget, highlighting risks and opportunities. Controls & Compliance Ensure financial controls are embedded and adhered to across production processes. Support internal and external audits. Maintain integrity of ERP system data relating to costings and stock. Profile Essential Experience in Management Accountant role or similar Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA). Previous experience in manufacturing, FMCG, or another product-based environment. Strong knowledge of standard costing, BOMs, and manufacturing processes. Demonstrable experience in Opex tracking and variance analysis. Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets. Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail. Desirable Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Netsuite, or similar. Experience working in multi-site manufacturing. Ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders. Job Offer Competitive salary ranging from £55,000 to £62,000 per annum.
