Audit Senior

York (Office based)

Salary: 38-50k per annum

Experience: Practice audit experience required

Overview

We are supporting a well-established accountancy practice to recruit an Audit Senior. This role suits someone who enjoys leading audits end-to-end, building strong client relationships, and supporting junior team members, with clear scope to develop your technical and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion for a varied client portfolio
  • Prepare and review audit files, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with relevant standards
  • Produce audit programmes, risk assessments, and completion documentation
  • Liaise directly with clients to gather information, resolve queries, and provide a professional service
  • Support and coach junior colleagues on-site and in the office, reviewing work and giving feedback
  • Identify issues, recommend improvements, and escalate risks to managers/partners where needed
  • Assist with wider accounts work where required (depending on client and team needs)
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience in a UK accountancy practice audit role (ideally operating at Senior level)
  • Part-qualified or qualified (ACA/ACCA or equivalent) is welcome, but experience is key
  • Confident leading audits and managing your own workload across multiple assignments
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, organised approach with clients and colleagues
  • Good working knowledge of audit methodology and file completion standards
  • Full UK driving licence preferred (depending on client site requirements)
