A well-established and forward-thinking secondary school in Barnet is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join its leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and knowledgeable professional to lead and develop the school's SEND provision and ensure that every student receives the support they need to succeed.
The successful candidate will play a key strategic role within the school, working closely with senior leaders, teachers, parents, and external agencies to deliver high-quality support for students with special educational needs and disabilities.

Position: SENCO (Secondary)
Location: Barnet, North London
Salary: Leadership Scale - Outer London (dependent on experience)
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner if available
Contract: Permanent
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or equivalent qualification
Proven experience working within secondary school SEND provision
Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation
Experience leading interventions and supporting staff with inclusive teaching strategies
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the strategic development of SEND provision across the school
Identify, assess and support students with special educational needs and disabilities
Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure inclusive practice across departments
Manage and support the SEND team including teaching assistants and support staff
Liaise with parents, external agencies, and local authorities to ensure effective support plans
Monitor student progress and ensure high-quality intervention strategies are implemented
Deliver staff training to support inclusive classroom practice
