Job Description

Our client is a rapidly growing business designing some of the most innovative and interesting applications for the marine industry. If you are a meticulous individual with a passion for design and development, for a pre-production project then this could be perfect for you.Senior Electrical Design Engineer (contract)Outside IR35Marine & defence applications6 month contract Responsibilities:System Design and Integration:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and systems engineers, to integrate electrical systems into the overall design.
  • Design and layout electrical systems, encompassing power distribution, wiring harnesses, connectors, control modules, and charging systems.
  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
Prototyping and Testing:
  • Work closely with testing teams to conduct functional, performance, and safety tests on electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve any issues that arise during testing phases.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Develop detailed documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical reports related to electrical design.
  • Effectively communicate design concepts and findings to team members, management, and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering, or a minimum of 5 years of industry experience with an apprenticeship qualification.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD or similar).
  • Experience with 3D CAD systems (e.g., Inventor) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Familiarity with CAN Bus systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience in preparing and submitting detailed design specifications for high-value projects.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and committed to excellence.
  • Willingness to embrace innovation and creativity; lateral thinking is encouraged.
  • Experience in testing and commissioning electrical systems.
Working Hours:
  • Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm, or flexibility such as 7.30am - 4pm
  • Site based work, can work all 40 hours in 4 days on site and have a long weekend
  • No remote working
Candidates must be able to obtain BPSS clearance and should have the right to work in the UK.
