We are looking to recruit up to 9 Locum consultant Anaesthetists. Various sub speciality interests can be accommodated such as neuro anaesthesia, Obstetric anaesthesia, trauma anaesthesia, peri operative medicine, Paediatric (including neonates) anaesthesia
A total of 80 Consultants including 6 Locum Consultants currently work in Theatres, Anaesthetics and Critical Care. The department also currently employs 1 Associate Specialist, 2 Specialist Grade Anaesthetists, 1 Specialty Doctor and about 40 trainees based in Anaesthesia ranging from CT1 ST7. 8 Senior Clinical Fellows are employed in the anaesthetic department. There are also trainees from acute medicine, respiratory medicine and emergency medicine who rotate through training in Intensive care and we train both FY1 and FY2 Doctors from our Local Foundation School.
There are 11 Anaesthesia Associates working in the department.
Secretarial and administrative support to the Department is provided by 5 secretaries in anaesthesia and two based in critical care.
Main duties of the jobThe consultant will be on a 1:8 to 1:20 rota.
A standard full time Job Plan will contain 10 programmed activities (PAs) comprising 8 PAs for direct clinical care (DCC), 1 PA for General Consultant on call at HRI. 1 SPA are classed as 'core' and cover time for training, teaching, CPD, audit, appraisal, clinical governance and attendance at service meetings.
