What it's like to work hereFormby's shifting sands create ever changing dunes sculpted by the wind and squeezed by surging tides. Sea views over Liverpool Bay to the hills of North Wales can be enjoyed from the windy sandy beaches. Footprint trails 5000 years old sometimes reappear as the sea erodes ancient mudflats. Pinewood walks with red squirrels lead to open fields and the Formby Asparagus trail. Formby is the place for simple pleasures of a family day out, for healthy exercise, fresh air and relaxation, and for a seaside picnic in the perfect spot.
Our sites are busy and varied. Our friendly, outgoing teams are passionate about the work we do to conserve these special places and to share the stories with a wide range of visitors. We're looking for people to work with us who are enthusiastic, flexible, adaptable, enjoy variety and are full team players. As we have relatively small teams on site, everyone helps each other out.
Whichever property you are based at and whatever role you play on site, standards of excellence in customer service and visitor engagement are essential. Some of our busiest days are at weekends and on Bank Holidays, so all staff are expected to take part in a regular weekend and Bank Holiday working.
What you'll be doingThis role supports a busy outdoor site that welcomes 1.6 million visitors every year. We're looking for someone who's happy to get stuck in on a range of tasks, and who has a great eye for presentation standards and attention to detail. You'll not be afraid of getting out and about to make things happen, and can juggle a varied workload.
You'll help with the day to day cleanliness and presentation of the National Trust's buildings and outdoor spaces. You'll be turning your practical hand to all sorts of cleaning including our two sets of visitor toilets, and minor bits of maintenance, making sure that all our facilities are kept in good working order. You'll also be asked to help with some manual work such as unloading deliveries.
Duties such as cleaning, sweeping and litter picking, both inside and outdoors, form a core part of this role. You'll be aiming for the highest standards of customer service everywhere you look after, and this includes speaking to people as they visit and helping them with any queries. General maintenance work, some compliance checks and helping within other teams will also form part of your role.
You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what's possible in this role.
Who we're looking forThe National Trust has the motto 'For everyone, for ever' at its heart. We're working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we're for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
