Job Description

Product Engineering Manager Hybrid - Newcastle or London (2 days onsite) Looking for a role where product thinking and engineering leadership truly come together?

This is your chance to lead a talented backend engineering team and play a fundamental part in shaping how a fast growing platform evolves, scales, and delivers value.

The Opportunity

As Product Engineering Manager, you'll guide a backend engineering team through a busy, high impact roadmap. You'll drive delivery discipline, create structure in a dynamic environment, and ensure the team is always focused on the highest value outcomes.

You won't be hands on coding, but your technical strength will help shape decisions, support engineers, and influence how work gets delivered. Just as importantly, you'll work closely with product partners, translating product goals into clear engineering plans and keeping the team aligned to what really matters.

What You'll Do
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a backend engineering team (6 engineers)
  • Drive predictable, high quality delivery and remove blockers
  • Influence product priorities and translate them into executable technical work
  • Promote best practice, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence
  • Champion AI driven productivity tools and embed them into day to day workflows
What You'll Bring
  • Strong engineering background with the ability to engage confidently in technical discussions
  • Experience leading teams in a product led engineering environment
  • A track record of improving delivery, processes, and team performance
  • Excellent communication skills and a people first leadership style
  • Curiosity and drive to embed modern, AI enabled ways of working

Bonus: experience with large scale systems, regulated environments, or distributed teams.

Why This Role Stands Out

You'll have genuine ownership, the freedom to shape how your team operates, and the chance to influence a rapidly growing product area. The culture is supportive, collaborative, and people focused, with strong investment in your development through coaching, training, and conferences. It's a great fit if you want impact, autonomy, and the opportunity to grow into senior engineering leadership.
