SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Addlestone, Surrey

Pay:£101.40 - £115.00 day rate.

Hours:Monday - Friday Full-time/Part-time

Start Date:ASAP

Purpose of the Role

To support the learning, development and wellbeing of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), working with teachers, parents and other staff to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The role involves supporting pupils with additional needs to access the curriculum and make progress towards their individual targets.

Key Performance Measures
  • Support pupils to make progress towards their learning targets.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Main Duties
  • Work with teachers and other staff to support pupils with SEN in the classroom.
  • Assist teachers in identifying and responding to the needs of individual pupils.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils access learning.
  • Observe, monitor and record pupil progress and report back to teachers.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of learning activities planned by the teacher.
  • Assist in preparing teaching materials and classroom displays.
  • Support the inclusion of pupils with physical, learning, communication or behavioural needs.
  • Assist with behaviour management within and outside the classroom.
  • Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Provide support for pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL), speech and language difficulties or behavioural needs that affect learning.
  • Encourage pupils' social development and participation in school activities outside the classroom.
  • Follow the school's safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.
