English Teacher (QTS) - Basingstoke

Prospero Teaching is seeking a committed and inspiring Qualified English Teacher to join a secondary school in the Basingstoke area. This is a fantastic short-term opportunity for a passionate practitioner who is ready for a new challenge and keen to make a strong impact within a supportive English department.

The role begins immediately after the Easter break and will continue until the end of the academic year, offering stability, consistent teaching responsibilities, and a chance to work with engaged pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The Role:
  • Teach English Language and English Literature across KS3-KS4
  • Deliver well-planned, engaging lessons with full teaching responsibilities
  • Mark work, assess progress, and provide meaningful feedback
  • Support a range of learners and help drive progress across the department
  • Create a positive, well-managed classroom environment
  • Engage with departmental planning and collaboration
Ideal Candidate:
  • Holds QTS/QTLS (essential)
  • Strong subject knowledge and confidence teaching English at KS3 & KS4
  • Experience delivering GCSE English (any exam board)
  • A proactive classroom practitioner with strong behaviour management
  • Positive, organised, and committed to high standards
  • Suitable for both experienced teachers and strong ECTs
Contract Details:
  • Position: English Teacher (QTS)
  • Location: Basingstoke
  • Start Date:After Easter holidays
  • Contract: Full-time, until the end of the academic year
  • Salary:£32,916 - £51,047 per annum
  • Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
  • QTS/QTLS required
  • Secondary English teaching experience preferred
  • Safeguarding training required (can be provided)
Eligibility:
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
  • Two relevant teaching references
