Team: Property and Planning Team, Law and Governance Directorate

We are seeking a skilled property solicitor to manage residential and commercial property matters, including Right to Buy (RTB) sales, lease negotiations, and council land transactions. The role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex property documents, ensuring statutory compliance, providing strategic legal advice to internal clients, and supporting regeneration and development projects.

• Manage a caseload of RTB sales, buy-backs, residential and commercial conveyancing, and lease/licence matters.
• Draft, negotiate, and complete property contracts, leases, licences, and statutory documentation.
• Advise council departments on legal powers, statutory compliance, risk mitigation, and governance.
• Liaise with internal teams, developers, external solicitors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth property transactions.
• Conduct title investigations, Land Registry filings, and ensure compliance with SDLT, planning, and property law.

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with property/conveyancing expertise.
• Proven experience in Right to Buy transactions, lease negotiations, and council property law.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and legal advisory skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality standards.

Desk-based with hybrid working; minimum one day per week on-site.
