Consultant in ENT

An opportunity has arisen for a full time, ENT Consultant with an interest in Otology to join a very enthusiastic ENT team at the Wirral University Teaching Hospital, Merseyside.

The successful candidate would be expected to work closely with their ENT colleagues to provide a fully comprehensive ENT service to the patients of the Wirral.

Main duties of the job

On-call commitment is 1:4 during week days covering only Arrowe Park Hospital. Week-end on call is currently 1 in 10, provided in clinical collaboration covering 3 hospitals - Arrowe Park Hospital, Countess of Chester Hospital and Warrington Hospital. All the 3 hospitals have middle grade ENT cover provided by Registrars or SAS Doctors. All the consultants in the 3 hospitals meet regularly to discuss Clinical Governance issues.

The new consultant would be expected to do the duties of a General ENT surgeon and to compliment other colleagues.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • FRCS or equivalent qualification in Otolaryngology
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register via a recognised route
  • Currently on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining
  • Completion of an accredited higher surgical training programme
Knowledge and Skills
  • Good communication skills with patients, relatives, colleagues and staff
  • Experience in teaching and training
Personal attributes
  • Flexible and accommodating
  • Able to work in a team with Consultant colleagues and juniors
