Commercial Property Solicitor - Gillingham
A long-established and highly regarded law firm is seeking a Commercial Property Solicitor to join its busy and successful Commercial Property team in Gillingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to develop their career with a respected practice supporting small and medium-sized businesses.
The Role
You will handle a varied caseload of commercial property matters, including:
- Buying and selling freehold and leasehold commercial premises
- Advising landlords and tenants on new leases, renewals and matters under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954
- Managing lease documentation such as licences to assign, sublet and alter
- Providing general commercial landlord and tenant advice
- Advising on investment property acquisitions
- Dealing with auction sales and purchases
- Handling land and premises acquisitions for development
- Commercial property finance
- (Beneficial) Experience with agricultural property
- (Desirable) Experience with business transfers
Additional responsibilities include maintaining financial control, supporting colleagues during absences, supervising Junior Fee Earners and ensuring all work is completed in line with firm procedures and risk management standards.
About You
To succeed in this role, applicants should have:
- Qualification as a Solicitor, Legal Executive or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years' PQE in Commercial Property
- Experience or understanding of residential conveyancing
- Ability to manage a varied commercial property caseload independently
- Strong IT skills and confidence using case management systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to support marketing activities and help develop junior staff
- A collaborative, approachable working style
