Location: Heath Farm College, Maidstone, ME16 0ER
Hours: 37.5 per week Monday to Friday
Salary: Up to £50,000.00 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent Term Time Only
Start: April 2026

About the Role

As an English Teacher at Heath Farm College, you will play a key part in shaping the learning experience of our students, delivering high quality English teaching while also contributing to other areas of the curriculum as required. You will model our college values of Love, Commitment and Opportunity in everything you do, ensuring every student receives the support, challenge and guidance they need to achieve their very best.

Key Responsibilities

  • Model the college values of Love, Commitment and Opportunity consistently each day.
  • Deliver highly effective teaching to learners, ensuring all content is relevant, appropriately differentiated, and aligned with statutory requirements.
  • Ensure all staff contributing to the English curriculum are well trained, supported and monitored.
  • Act as Tutor, providing academic and pastoral support.
  • Uphold and promote all college policies, protocols and procedures, including accurate daily registration.
  • Teach across subjects where required, supporting the broader curriculum.
  • Plan and deliver schemes of work that reflect individual needs and comply with college and statutory expectations.
  • Take responsibility for the assessment, recording and reporting of all students in your sessions.
  • Ensure each learner has an up to date, relevant Student Learner Profile, aligned to statutory guidance.
  • Maintain clear, accurate records of progress and achievement to support effective progression planning.
  • Maintain student portfolios in line with college policies and exam board requirements.
  • Model the values of lifelong learning, demonstrating continuous professional growth and reflective practice.

About You

  • A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with experience supporting pupils with SEN and complex needs
  • Passionate about creating inclusive, engaging learning environments where every pupil can succeed
  • Skilled at adapting teaching approaches and behaviour strategies to meet a wide range of learning needs
  • Confident using assessment data and individual learning plans to track progress and support pupil achievement
  • A strong communicator who can build positive partnerships with parents, colleagues and external professionals
  • Resilient, reflective and committed to continuous professional development and improving outcomes for young people
  • A collaborative team player who shares best practice and contributes to the wider life of the school

We are an independent specialist sixth form college that caters for young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. Heath Farm College is situated in Maidstone and has capacity to support up to 58 students. The provision facilitates a professional post 16 provision for students with EHCPs who are not ready for a large FE college or large school/academy 6th Form provision.
