Job Title: Principal Public Health EngineerLocation: Solihull Salary: Negotiable DOEType: Permanent 36.25 hours per week A leading, design-led Building Services consultancy is seeking a Principal Public Health Engineer to join its growing Solihull office. This is a senior technical leadership role within a well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering practice delivering sustainable solutions across healthcare, education, residential, commercial, industrial and public sector projects. With a strong focus on net-zero carbon and research-driven design, this organisation offers technically challenging work within a collaborative and people-focused culture.The Role You will take ownership of the technical leadership of above-ground drainage design, ensuring full compliance with BS EN 12056and Approved Document H.Key responsibilities include:
    • Leading design of above-ground foul drainage systems in accordance with BS EN 12056-2
    • Overseeing gravity and siphonic roof drainage design (BS EN 12056-3)
    • Ensuring compliance with Approved Document H - Section 1
    • Reviewing installation requirements in line with BS EN 12056-5
    • Integrating drainage systems within architectural, structural and MEP coordination models (BIM)
    • Providing technical solutions covering ventilation, acoustics, fire-stopping and backflow prevention
    • Conducting high-level technical reviews of calculations, drawings and specifications
Leadership & Governance
    • Managing and mentoring a team of Public Health Engineers
    • Delivering structured technical training
    • Establishing discipline standards, QA processes and technical guidance
    • Engaging directly with clients, architects, MEP teams and Building Control
    • Contributing to risk management and project strategy
About You
    • Degree qualified in Public Health, Building Services or Civil Engineering
    • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or operating at the Principal level
    • 10+ years' experience designing above-ground foul and rainwater drainage systems
    • Advanced knowledge of EN 12056 methodology
    • Strong technical coordination experience within multi-disciplinary design environments
    • Excellent communication and leadership capability
