General Manager

We are currently recruiting a General Manager to join our team in Nottingham.

The General Manager will be responsible for:

  • Act as a role model for our values and behaviours, promoting and upholding the company image as a brand ambassador.

  • Lead, coach, and mentor Branch Management to develop leadership capability and embed consistent people practices.

  • Drive engagement and motivation within teams by fostering open communication, recognition, and accountability.

  • Lead recruitment, performance management, and employee relations in partnership with the Head of Branch Network and People Team.

  • Champion learning and development across branches, ensuring managers and teams have the right skills and training.

  • Manage branch performance against a standardised scorecard (financial, customer, operational, people).

  • Monitor KPIs, analyse trends, and take corrective action to improve results.

  • Ensure Branch Management are held accountable for daily operations, standards, and customer service.

  • Implement best practices consistently across branches, promoting efficiency and quality.

  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, customer experience, and operational performance.

  • Ensure customer service standards are consistently high across branches.

  • Drive sales performance by maximising opportunities in MOTs, servicing, repairs, and tyres.

  • Ensure all branches comply with DVSA regulations, Health & Safety standards, and company policies.

  • Oversee risk assessments, audits, and corrective actions across branches.

  • Maintain accountability for operational compliance and safe working environments.

  • Provide clear reporting on performance, challenges, and opportunities to the Senior Leadership Team.

  • Maintain strong communication between branches, Head Office, and leadership teams.

The General Manager will:

  • Have strong leadership and people management skills
  • Have proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop managers.
  • Have high-level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Be commercially astute with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Organised, resilient, and able to manage multiple sites, priorities, and demands.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of branch operations within MOT, servicing, repairs, and tyre services.
  • Have strong understanding of compliance requirements, including DVSA and Health & Safety.
  • Demonstrate integrity, initiative, and the ability to drive continuous improvement.
