Tool Setter Team Leader

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Tool Setter Team Leader to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technical professional looking to step into (or continue in) a leadership role while remaining close to the shop floor.

The successful candidate will lead a small team of Tool Setters, ensuring efficient production performance, minimal downtime, and high-quality tooling standards. You will play a key role in coordinating daily activities, resolving technical issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Leading and supervising a small team of Tool Setters
• Delegating daily workload and prioritising tasks to meet production schedules
• Performing and overseeing tool changes and machine set-ups
• Creating, modifying and maintaining tooling fixtures
• Troubleshooting and resolving shop floor issues efficiently
• Reducing downtime through proactive problem-solving
• Supporting process improvements and lean manufacturing initiatives
• Ensuring compliance with health & safety standards
• Training and mentoring team members to develop skills and capability
• Liaising with production, maintenance and engineering teams

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience as a Tool Setter within a manufacturing environment
• Previous experience leading or supervising a small team
• Strong knowledge of tooling, fixtures and machine set-up
• Ability to diagnose and resolve shop floor production issues
• Excellent organisational and delegation skills
• Strong communication skills across all levels
• Apprenticeship or engineering qualification
• Experience within high-volume manufacturing
• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
