We are seeking a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join the kitchen brigade at a luxury country house hotel set within beautiful parkland surroundings in Berkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their culinary skills within a professional, high-quality hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior chefs in the preparation and presentation of dishes across multiple outlets (restaurant, lounge, private dining, weddings, and events).

  • Prepare ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning.

  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented to the highest standards.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in line with food hygiene regulations.

  • Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications set by senior chefs.

  • Support stock rotation and proper storage procedures (FIFO).

  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative kitchen environment.

Requirements

  • A genuine passion for food and hospitality.

  • Culinary qualification (NVQ Level 1/2 or equivalent) preferred.

  • Previous kitchen experience is desirable but not essential.

  • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and event days.
